Shambala Game Reserve is situated in the picturesque central region of the Waterberg mountain range, northwest of Johannesburg and Pretoria (approximately 2 ½ hour drive by car). It enjoys a sub-tropical climate and it is pleasantly temperate for most of the year. In this idyllic setting, Shambala Game Reserve epitomizes Paradise on Earth. It covers almost 12,000 hectares of natural landscape in South Africa's Limpopo Province and is home to the Big Five, the leopard, lion, elephant, black rhino and buffalo.
Zulu Camp offers guests the experience of a lifetime, staying in traditional honeycomb-shaped chalets in the heart of the bushveld, with streams from the nearby river running through the camp. From early morning until dusk the air is filled with the echoing birdcalls, emphasizing the uniqueness of being part of the natural surroundings.
Each chalet is furnished and decorated in chic Afro-French Provincial style, with its own refreshing outdoor shower. A campfire is lit every evening in the open lapa area, and our guests can dine overlooking the shore of the river. Zulu Camp offers its guests an unforgettable experience in the most idyllic bushveld setting with the river running through the camp and awaking to the plaintive calls of the fish eagles.
At Shambala personalized cuisine takes on a whole new meaning. World class Chefs take the greatest pleasure in preparing dishes to suit guests' individual tastes and preferences, including some traditional African delicacies if so desired. The Sommelier delights in the perfect pairing of dishes with the classic vintages from renowned South African wine estates.

All meals and a selection of beverages and local wines (Imported wines, champagne, and other alcoholic beverages are charged extra). All meals are served in the thatched dining area. Breakfasts range from Continental to full English spreads consisting of a range of mouth-watering dishes and delicacies served buffet style. In the evenings, Shambala offers guests a tantalizing menu of delectable dishes to linger over.
Shambala Spa is situated in a secluded bushveld clearing near the riverside. The Spa offers all the traditional spa treatments as well as specialist signature treatments for relaxing, revitalizing and rejuvenating the senses. The Spa deck offers views over the river bed and the sound of the water adds to the tranquility of the surrounds.
Game viewing: Visitors to Shambala are treated to unique personal experiences of the bushveld and close-up game viewing by qualified, experienced game rangers and guides. With the many species of wildlife roaming free on Shambala, visitors are not permitted to go on unaccompanied walks for safety reasons.
Elephant safaris
One of the most memorable activities at Shambala is going on an elephant safari. These elephants were originally relocated from Zimbabwe, where their existence was under severe threat. All chalets are furnished and decorated in chic Afro-French provincial style with a king-size bed, mini-bar and patio. All bathrooms have indoor and outdoor showers, an oversized bathtub, separate WC. A maximum of 2 persosn can be accommodated in each chalet. Children under the age of 16 can only be accommodated on a REQUEST BASIS.
